New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is the first Latina Democratic governor in the U.S. As governor, she raised teacher salaries and invested in student learning. She expanded the New Mexico economy to include more employment opportunities while preserving New Mexico’s air, land, and water. She oversaw a landmark transition to clean energy.
While in Congress, she led the push for Care Core, her legacy legislation for innovated care giving. While the head of the State Department of Health, she doubled school based health centers and installed teen pregnancy programs.
