Dr. Janie Hydrick

2018 – Jacqueline Adams Service Award

Dr. Janie Hydrick grew up and attended public elementary and high schools in Arizona. She holds multiple degrees, including a doctorate, from the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. 

Janie has spent her entire 45-year professional career as an educator and has taught all levels from elementary through graduate school and has also done extensive training of teachers in professional development.

Janie served as President of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), the largest subject-matter organization in the world. She also served on the Board of Directors of the prestigious National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), National Education Association, and others, providing her with a wide range of Board and governance experience. Janie lives in Chandler with her daughter, son-in-law, five-year-old grandson, and their three pugs.
