Sally Ann Gonzales is a citizen of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. A former tribal council member and public-school educator. In 1996 became the first Indigenous woman to be elected to the Arizona State Legislature. Senator Gonzales is chair of the Indigenous Peoples Caucus, is ranking member of the Health & Human Services Committee and a member of Military & Border Security Committee. As a former classroom teacher, Sally Ann Gonzales continues to be a strong proponent for quality & equitable education for all. She’s a strong voice for children, women, and elders and continues to support health care for all.
