Kathy Knecht

Kathy Knecht was raised in Arizona and has spent her adult life in service to others. As a former elementary school teacher and mom to two daughters, Kathy understands the value of an educated workforce. Her passion for great public schools motivated her to run for public office in 2007 and continues to fuel her desire for a government accountable to the people, not special interests. Kathy served 12 years as a governing board member for the Peoria School Board and five years as a board member of the Arizona School Boards Association, including her term as board president. Her desire to create better connections between business, nonprofit and government leaders led to her work as the executive director of Leadership West as well as her service on numerous volunteer boards, including the West Valley Arts Council, Benevilla Senior Care, New Life Center, and Northwest Valley Connect. As a champion for economic development, Kathy served on both the Peoria and Surprise Chambers of Commerce and continues her service on the workforce and education committee of WESTMARC, a public-private partnership dedicated to improving the West Valley’s economy. She was also an Honorary Commander at Luke Air Force base where she continues her extensive volunteer work in her current role as a Blue Blazer. Kathy has a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s in interdisciplinary studies from ASU. She and her husband Tom live in Peoria. You can learn more about her on her website here.
