Adelita Grijalva is a Tucson native and Pueblo High School alumni. She was the youngest woman ever elected to the Tucson Unified School District Governing Board, and is currently serving her fifth term.
Adelita is firmly committed to improving the quality of life for Pima County residents. She is actively involved in the Pueblo community, attending and volunteering her time whenever she can. She is an effective and unwavering advocate for opportunities and programs that will improve students’ education, such as counseling services and diversion programs.
Adelita is a recipient of the Tucson Business Edge Magazine’s “40 under 40” award. In 2008 she was named Advocate of the Year by the Arizona School Counselors Association. In addition to her work on the Governing Board, she serves the Educational Enrichment Foundation, advises a chapter of Kappa Delta, and volunteers with the Democratic Party.
