Patty Hansen was elected Coconino County Recorder in 2012, after serving in elections administration for 24 years. She began her election administration career in 1987 when she was appointed to be the Deputy Election Commissioner for Lancaster County, Nebraska. In 1991 she was appointed by the Governor to be the Lancaster County Election Commissioner and she served until 1999.
In 1999 she moved to Minnesota where she served as an Elections Specialist for first Ramsey County and then Hennepin County and also as an Elections Administrator for the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office.
Patty became the Elections Administrator for Coconino County, Arizona in June, 2003. Coconino County is the second largest county geographically in the United States and includes both rims of the Grand Canyon, part of the Red Rocks of Sedona, the San Francisco Mountains, Lake Powell and Glen Canyon. In addition to the diverse landscape, Coconino County contains a portion of the Navajo Nation and the Hopi Reservation and has the Supai Village located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon which is the home of the Havasupai people.
