Patty Hansen was elected Coconino County Recorder in 2012, re-elected in 2016 after serving in elections administration for 24 years in Nebraska. This year she received the Eleanor Roosevelt Award for Coconino County for her work to stop voter suppression on both the state and national level.
Patty became the Elections Administrator for Coconino County, Arizona in June, 2003. Coconino County is the second largest county geographically in the United States and includes both rims of the Grand Canyon, part of the Red Rocks of Sedona, the San Francisco Mountains, Lake Powell and Glen Canyon. In addition to the diverse landscape, Coconino County contains a portion of the Navajo Nation and the Hopi Reservation and has the Supai Village located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon which is the home of the Havasupai people.
