Running for Cochise Board of Supervisors District 3.
I grew up in California and Pennsylvania, graduating from high school in 1972. I did a year of college at Penn State but dropped out and became a nursing assistant. I traveled to Colorado, where I met and married my husband Fred in 1982. We moved to Cochise County, AZ in 1994 and bought land for our growing family 12 miles outside of Huachuca City. In 2001, we opened an electrical contracting business, Lectra-Serv, Inc., and currently have 30 employees, including 4 of our 9 adult children.
In 2016, I moved into Huachuca City and attended council meetings regularly. Huachuca City had a poor reputation due to mismanagement, so residents elected a new mayor and new council members. I was appointed to fill a council vacancy in 2017 and found great satisfaction representing the town at regional partnerships. My involvement secured over $2 million in funding for roads, pathways, an emergency signal, and a community garden. In November 2020, I moved out of the city limits to our family property and had to step down.
In 2022, the 2 Republican members of the 3-member County Board of Supervisors refused to certify the results of the November election, despite warnings from the County Attorney that their actions were illegal. (They are currently under felony indictment for interference with an election official.) I was asked by fellow Democrats to run for the District 3 position and began my campaign in November 2023.
